The mortal remains of late veteran actor Michael Moncar who died on Friday, March 8 will be laid to rest this weekend.
The actor died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a surgery was conducted to remove a blood clot detected in his head.
Veteran actor Fred Amugi, who was also close friend of the late actor told Myjoyonline.com that final funeral rights for his interment will start Friday, April 5.
Fred Amugi said, the remains of Michael Moncar will be conveyed from the Medical School Mortuary of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, on Friday, to his residence at Mahogany Close in Dansoman, Accra.
The body will be laid in state on Saturday, April 6 for viewing from 6am to 9am and followed by pre-burial service, at the same place.
Michael Moncar, after the service, will be laid to rest at the Osu Cemetery after which the final funeral rights will be held, at Toney Park, Dansoman.
Asked what he will miss most about the late actor, Fred Amugi said, “He is the friendliest personality I have ever met. He has never been angry for the past 25 years I have known him. That has been his hallmark.”
The funeral is expected to attract several personalities from the creative art industry.
Notable among them are Nii Lamtey Vandapuij, Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo constituency of Accra and a Deputy Minister nominee for Trade and Industry Ministry, who also happens to be Michael Moncar’s cousin; and Dzifa Gomashie, a Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts nominee.
Michael Moncar, until his death, was a prominent face in the Efiewura television series.
