The winner of the maiden MTN Hitmaker music reality show, Shadrack Adjei, popularly known as Naterial, launched his maiden 12-track album titled “Adole” at the poolside of the plush Oak Plaza Hotel on the Spintex Road, Accra.
The short but impressive ceremony brought together officials from MTN led by the Corporate Services Executive, Cynthia Lumor, stakeholders in the music industry, musicians, radio and TV presenters, the media as well as friends and family members of Naterial.
Season one of the popular MTN Hitmaker drew over 1,700 entries, with 12 contestants selected by a seasoned panel of judges namely Bessa Simmon, Offie Kudjo and Zapp Mallet.
Naterial was able to hold off stiff competition from the rest of the contestants to walk home with the GHC100,000 recording deal.
He chose the smooth multiple award-winning Dancehall crooner, Samani as his mentor and featured him on the album title track, Adole, which is already enjoying massive airplay in Ghana.
At the launch, Mrs. Cynthia Lumor noted that “the MTN Hitmaker show is an MTN initiative to support talents in the music industry with the requisite resources to develop their music careers and most importantly record and promote their albums”.
“Naterial has proven beyond every reasonable doubt that he has the ability to hold the attention of his audience with his sterling stage craft splendid performance and danceable tunes. He truly deserves this opportunity given him and with the needed hard work and discipline as a musician, the sky is the limit”, she said.
Patrons at the launch made cash offers to purchase the album whiles others made pledges to buy copies of the CD.
Naterial used the occasion to thank MTN, his family and friends as well as his teeming fans for the faith shown in him during the MTN Hitmaker period till date. “I will do my best in my chosen career to get to the top. I won’t disappoint my people. I will strive to get to the top. I thank everyone who has contributed to my album. God bless them”.
Naterial gave the excited gathering a taste of the songs on his album by performing some of his hit tracks including “Adole” featuring Samini, “Mamle”, “Good music”, “Counting on you” featuring Blakk Rasta.
The “Hitmaker“ is being managed by S24 Recording Studios, which produced all his tracks.
Other up and coming musicians were also given the opportunity to showcase their talents.
Naterial’s current hit tracks are available on mtnplay.com.gh as well on MTN CRBT platform. MTN customers would have to dial 1355 and download his tracks.
Meanwhile,the first runner up to the MTN Hitmaker show, Miriam Afari is set to release her album on April 7th 2013.
Season two of the MTN Hitmaker show is just a few weeks away from launch so people with potential ‘Hitmaker’ demos should get themselves ready for another entertaining edition.
