Autopsy on the body of Susan Goldie Harvey, former Big Brother Africa StarGame representative from Nigeria, has revealed that she suffered a terminal hypertensive heart disease which resulted in intracerebellar haemorrhage (intracerebral hemorrhage).
Intracerebral hemorrhage can be caused by brain trauma, or it can occur spontaneously in hemorrhagic stroke. Non-traumatic intracerebral hemorrhage is a spontaneous bleeding into the brain tissue.
It has emerged that the intracerebral hemorrhage affected her spinal cord resulting in the severe headache she experienced prior to her death.
The autopsy was carried out on February 19 after her sudden death on February 14, Valentine’s Day, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria and was signed by Dr. O. O. Oyewole of the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine.
This report contradicts earlier claims by an unnamed medical expert that she died from Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot in the large veins in the thighs or the lower legs.
There were other reports that she died of Pulmonary Embolism, a condition which is triggered by long periods of inaction, while some said she died as a result of drug overdose, an allegation her husband, Andrew Harvey vehemently denied.
Goldie, who was also a musician and signed to Kennis Music, died shortly after complaining of severe headache. She had arrived in Nigeria from Los Angeles, United States where she attended the 55th Grammy Awards.
In another development, Cknnigeria.com is reporting that Goldie’s husband, Andrew Harvey, has been denied an entry visa by the Nigerian High Commission in London to visit Nigeria.
According to the site, Andrew has been in London for some days now trying to obtain a visa to go to Nigeria to see the remains of Goldie and give her a befitting burial.
The family of Goldie is yet to announce the burial arrangements of the late singer.
